It'll be the first generic "respiratory" quinolone...and therefore is likely to cost less than using moxifloxacin (Avelox) or gemifloxacin (Factive) for respiratory infections.
But this doesn't mean levofloxacin should be used first-line. It's still important to use quinolones judiciously to limit resistance.
